Post Surgery

Sorry I haven't posted for a while life has been pretty cRaZy. I will post pictures of my Hawaii trip on here in no time but I thought I would catch you all up on my surgery info. Well for most of you that knew my MRI said that I was going to have a meniscus repair and maybe a partial ACL repair. Well so much for greater technology. When I came out of surgery the sweet little old nurse said, "Now Honey your ACL was worked on that's why your in so much pain." Remind you I am barely aware of my surroundings so my immediate thought was this sweet old lady has lost her mind and thought I was someone else. Well she didn't she was right. When I finally realize that my college career this year was over, I started freaking out and screaming at her.
"Well what did they replace it with?"
"An akilis"
When she said that I felt my left leg and it was wrapped up in badges, so I began to panic either the stupid doctors had done the wrong leg or they took my akilis off of my left leg either way I was going to kill them.
"FROM WHERE AND WHY IS MY LEG WRAPPED UP? WHERE'S MY MOM I WANT TO SEE HER?" I screamed
"Well Sweetie (at this moment I really wanted to hit her the next time she called me sweetie I was done with the sweet talk give me my pain killers and my information and I would be fine.) I'm not sure let me read your report. Your doctor talked to you already about this."
I was floating on Cloud eleven at that time, I don't remember ANNNYYYTTTHHIIINNNGG...
"The report says it was a cadaver and we are getting you pain killers, I don't know why your leg is wrapped up and no your mom can't come back here yet."
When I heard I couldn't see my mom I about lost it, then two seconds later I was out again cause the drugs took there effect. Except between the time they got me into my hospital room and then, I woke up cried asked for my mom and drugs and fell back asleep. I think they would have felt more sorry for me if I was the actual age I was acting not a 22 drugged up wuss. I finally got got to the room... no mom, still in pain, and still not quite sure why my leg was wrapped up. I later found out I was wrapped for precaution of blood clots, my mom was getting my drugs, and they were now getting a machine to where I would give out my own dosage of pain meds about every ten minutes if needed. I didn't like staying over night cause my male nurse got to help me pee. Pride is not something they hold high in that hospital let a lone modesty. My two new nurses that came around six were idiots. I had to re-wrap myself because apparently she hasn't gone to school and learned that wrapping an ace bandage from top to bottom can actually cause blood clots instead of PREVENTING THEM. All in all though surgery went great, I didn't throw up until the next night which is a great improvement for me and I am learning to get a long with my crutches, pain killers and them don't mix very well but the couch has a nice imprint for me every morning:) I am doing great and recovery is well on its way!

There NO place like home for the Holidays!

Okay, so i thought I would give you all an update on how it is now being home! And honestly I can't explain it. Yesterday I woke up after five hours of sleep cause I decided sleep here is pointless I need to be up with the family. I got up worked out and was able to see my old coach, who is such an awesome guy with great personal insight! I was also able to see old teammates and loved it! I am however sore today (WARNING: Doing weights after not doing them for about month can cause soreness, no matter how good of shape you think you are in.) Anyways I went and visited my old job to see the new building I would be working at this summer and then visited the Institute, where I got a mouth full from my old teacher and stake president. I wasn't impressed at all, when I told him about the situation at basketball he then said this, "I hope you don't get to play again so you can help someone else when you coach." First off since when am I coaching and second off that is like saying, "I hope you have a lot of trials in your life..." You don't say that to someone whether you think it or not, but okay sorry frustration is now out! I then went and watched the CEU girls practice. Now when I walked it I thought they had just begun, nope an hour and a half into it and only three were sweating. I then saw a girl sitting down on the bleachers and asked my coach "hey coach what's wrong with her?" "Nothing..." came his reply Excuse me?? Since when can we sit down during practice! At that moment in my life...
I WISHED I WAS BACK AT CEU! All I was doing was imagining and mad Coach Green would be... Let's just say THERE IS SUCH A THING AS "DAYMARES" A.K.A NIGHTMARES DURING THE DAY! That evening I went with the Namannys. I enjoyed the time with them but I realized how much I missed Schyler again, it is going to be interesting when he comes home that's for sure! a'psodjf <- sorry that two bits was given by the none other stud muffin Daxen, who in Adult terms is saying "Aunt Halee I love you but get off the computer and PAY ATTENTION TO ME DANG IT!" So signing off and there will be more to come....

Kids sure do say the darnest things!

K, so funny story about some of the little kids I watch/hang out with because they seem to be some of my best friends:)...
The other Sunday, Lucy decided during sacrament meeting she was going to read the scriptures to feel the spirit more because their family had been talking about listening more and preparing for the sacrament better. Anyways Lucy asked her father what page that were on for family scripture study of course Matt having no idea muttered out a random number 42! Lucy figured well we've already read that page I am going to start on 43. Pretty soon Lucy was struggling with a word. In frustration she said to her mother, (remind you this is just before we are about to partake of the sacrament) "Mom I am doing good but I don't know what this one word means." So her mother lovingly replied, "Well what word is it?" She then pointed to verse 25 of 1 Nephi 18. There it was the word she did not know... A-S-S. Her mother trying not to laugh replied that is Donkey. However, the laughter did not stay in very well and let just say it's a great thing God has a sense of humor cause being serious was not on the schedule for today.
The story doesn't even end there. The family had company over later that night and were playing the question game (This has become one of my favorite games. You have a stack of cards that have questions on them and you pick one and ask the table that question, everyone including you has to answer. It's just a get to know you kind of game but you come to realize some of the greatest things about ppl.) So one of the questions was "If you could be any animal what would it be?" Of course the smart allics Matt and Jill stated I would be a Donkey and then laughed. Well this back fired big time on them! Lucy then exclaimed in a loud voice, "I KNOW HOW TO SPELL DONKEY, IT'S A-S-S! haha Of course the couple was astonished by her statement and the room was filled by laughter just by Jill and Matt who explained as quick as possible the events that had happened earlier! Kids, so innocent and yet so blunt! I am so grateful for little kids to fill our lives with etertainment and laughter! This is why I miss my awesome nephews! I can't wait to see my studs!

Throw'n You Up On What's Going On...

Okay, so I haven't posted for a bit while being here in Minot. We had our first scrimmages this weekend and they were a big eye opener for all of the team. We didn't play so well as a team and they worked us over for the most part. I think it is going to be even a bigger eye opener this next weekend, it is our first game of the pre-season so we will see how well that goes. These past couple of weeks have been a little rough. I have been homesick, but I've learned that you can't avoid the birds of sorrow from flying over your head but you can determine if they make a nest on your head or not. I am learning to try to let the little things go and just worry about the big things. so funny story:
The other night I received a text from my roomates telling me where they were and they wanted a ride to the Tap. So I decided to go hang out with the girls cause I hadn't done that in a long time. When I arrived I of course received the famous Shirley Temple (It's my usual these days) and had fun chatting with people, even those that tried to "trick" me with hard questions about the church (that is also a usual these days). Then we went to the tap because it was LJ's 21st, there was no one there so the girls and the boys wanted to go back to the O. We only had a half hour left of bar time so I figured we would leave right after that. Well according to all drunks they get hungry and get massively hungry, honestly it looks like they haven't eaten for days the way they scarf that food down; even mac and cheese tastes like Olive Garden's Five Cheese Ziti al Forno. Anyways, Whitney wanted to go to the also midnight or one o'clock usual, Taco Johns, for those of you that don't know what this place is like it's a nastier version of Taco Bell. So we were waiting for the five star lean cuisine meal, when all of a sudden I heard this awful burp with a fountain of water (alcohol in this case) come out of LJ who two seconds before was passed out in the car. Then shrieks came from Kenzie who got out of the car and walked cause according to her the house was three blocks she, the athletic track and basketball star, wasn't running. LJ then proceeded to defend himself by saying "I didn't throw up, I just spit..." Yeah and I'm Carrie Underwood (which I did get told I had a beautiful voice like hers at Karokee, hahaha I love drunk ppl they think a monotone hick is the best singer a live!) So I took him home, went to Kenzie who by the time I got home was in a new outfit and ready to go for the rest of the night until she began crying about the throw up experience. Which I can understand why she did I mean I can't imagine anybody not loving to have green beans and alcohol spewed all over them. This is where the funny part comes in, I of course the sober one laughed at the situation, which in turn caused Whitney to laugh, which then of course lead to the effect of tick'n Kenzie off. She screamed at Whitney who then proceeded to say "At least your washable! My car isn't!" ... TIMEOUT!... Has anybody ever heard of carpet cleaner for a car?? That of course made me laugh harder which made kenzie more upset. She screamed at Sam who by this time had come to calm her down. "The sober one is laughing and I don't think it's funny!" What did that cause me to do, yeah laugh harder and Whitney too. No more than 10 minues later we were all laughing in the kitchen again about the whole situation... drunks are also like little kids for Kenzie they forgive and forget just like that. For Whitney walking can be a challenge and the ground is one of their best known enemies cause it makes them trip consistantly! So that's beent he excitement lol, other than that I teach piano, go church, do homework, clean and play ball. Remember "It is the things in life for which we are compelled to struggle that generally are worth the most to us." and "Be not faithless, but believing, in your cappacity as a son or daughter of God to learn so that you may go forth to serve. Look up and go forward."

Blond or Brown, you take your pick...

Okay so here's the new style. I decided while shopping for
some new hair spray that I wanted to dye my hair. I have been debating this for quite some time now for the fact that I like my hair brown and well a certain someone does not. I knew I needed to do something now or forever hold my peace. So at midnight I finished applying all the chemicals and sat for 45 minutes to allow it to work its magic by 1 this is how I looked. You can decide whether you like it better dark or blond and let me know, for now though since it's
Winter and I wanted a change... speaking of wanting change I don't think I really did lol i woke up numerous times last night all in all only to find my hair dark in the mirror I don't know if I thought it was a dream or it was a dream inside of a dream but I did feel funny after waking up this morning hahaha. but I'm glad for the change, besides i can change back by March :)

Go BIG or Go HOME!

Micheal and me, my first attacker!

My little sister and me. Man, do we look fierce or what?!?!

K, so I know this event is really old but I thought I'd let you all get a taste of how tough I am.... lol or how stupid I am :D
My brother in law has this fascination with paint balling and decided since I have never been, it would be a nice going away activity. So the event started out great. I was sneakily and quietly moving onto my victim good old Sethie-Poo. He was hiding openly behind a tree trying to shoot my teammate. I went in for my attack, I heard the sound of another gone going off near me, only problem those paint balls were headed for me. So I ran to a bush to find my opponent. As I turned the corner I found the perpitraitor and fired. The war had begun. I the unexperienced victim tried to hide behind a tiny bush thinking it's twigs could hide my massive body. It didn't and those tiny paint balls nailed me. I did manage to hit my victim once in the back but his wounds compared nothing to mine. Oh but my days of glory were yet to end! I found a SWEET hiding place, a small crounching spot in between to bushes, and fired at my unknowing brother in law. HIT! Nailed him in the leg! However, his teammate was right behind and fired at me causing yet another massive wound, yet not as big as my first wound. So these are the bruises... biggest one from the first attack, second largest from my second attack, and third well somewhere in between all of that.

I did learn one not to wear tight pants, two not to hide behind punnie bushes, and third come prepared. All in all it was a fun event, except I do have the reminders, large bumps on the side of my legs! It is an event I will never forget!

My BIG 22

K, so I know I haven't written on here since June so I thought I would give an update of my life now that it is September. Well as most of you know I am back in Minot, ND trying to survive. Apparently God has a sense of humor when it comes to my life and he just gets pleasure out of watching me out here... hense the reason I am here, I HAVE NO FREEZING IDEA! But I am glad for many reasons that I am here. First some of the greastest people I know are out here, second my love of playing basketball is being filled, and third everyone needs some great stories for the future so I'm creating my book.

Yesterday was my 22nd birthday man I'm getting old... and for all of you that are older than me yes you too are also old if I am old then you are too! hahaha jk, So I always like to think about things I have learned or done over the past year to see if it was a successful year or not... so here are a few things.

1. I was able to get a taste of my Aunt Penny's previous life before she was married and do it through my own eyes and definitley get a taste of it :)

2. I had surgery on my knee and learned that when the doc says it is enough it isn't. You push until well you break your knee like I did. hahaha jk, listen to the Doctor she or he knows more than you think.

3. That friends really do come and go as your parents say but family now they are FOREVER!

4. I learned to love people for who they are and not what they do to me or have done for me.

5. I've learned that stage fright is always there, you just get better at hiding it.

6. I've learned on the greatest joys in life is having a child run into your arms and tell you he loves this much!

7. I've learned that the greatest gift in life is your family.

8. I've learned that memories are created by those that choose to be daring, loving, and getting out there, not by sitting a lone in a room.

9. I've learned that life is filled with trials, tribulations, and hard times, but it is those hard times that make us stronger, that we come to know who we are, and that God's arms are stretched out still.

10. I went to Nauvoo and found a greater testimony of Joseph Smith and the earlier saints.

11. I've learned that girls really do need to be appreciated for who they are, not what their talents are, or what they look like and if they aren't being treated like they should it isn't there fault, it's his.

12. I've learned "the list" isn't THAT important, it's knowing that you'll loved forever and you'll be able to make it through those hard times.

13. I've learned that life is a joke sometimes, God made it that way, so laugh.

14. I've learned I can't make it on time for anything practically, yes even work, so tell me it's going to start 20 minutes earlier and you might see me walk in on time. I even tried telling myself I had to work 20 minutes earlier, but I couldn't trick myself half the time.

15. I've learned that friends are there to make you smile, and laugh even when you don't want to. That you really aren't a burden even if you feel like it cause if they are true friends they'll let you know when enough is enough and usually it never is enough.

16. I realized the greatest bond exsist between my mother and me.

17. I realized that time doesn't stop so you can't either.

18. I realized that my sister is and always will be my best friend.

19. And I realized more than anything that your family loves you no matter how ornery you are at that moment, how crazy the hair fairy went on your hair, and no matter how many times you have to say sorry to them.

I really am grateful for this last year! I know that life throws curve balls sometimes but you can't just let them fly by you and not try to swing. Aim for the fence! I am learning a lot now especially cause I am in school Schy has 6 months left wow! Time does fly!

IsN't It FuNnY!

Ya know lately I have noticed some funny things in life....

Isn't it funny how when we get hurt we are always saying
oh I can't wait to get active again, but when we finally
are well enough to move we don't have that desire to ... move.

Isn't it funny when you see that oh so sweet piece of cake
sitting right there for you to devour like a ferocious lion,
you feel like a worthless pig after eating it and realizing
oh there goes all my points from weight watchers... (I'll just start
over next week.)

Isn't it funny how when going into movies or even meeting people
and you think this is going to be the worst movie or they
are just a horrible person, they or it turns out the be one of
the best shows you've ever seen or they become your best friend.

Isn't it funny that when you think you've made the worst
mistake possible, you still have more to make.

Isn't it funny that when in your weakest or lowest moments,
you find some of your greatest strengths.

Isn't it funny that when on your knees you stand a little taller.

Isn't it funny how life is like shaving, no matter how good
you do it today you still have to do it again tomorrow.

Isn't it funny when you finally get that dream car, house,
favorite movie, game, or moment of glory you are always craving
more.

Isn't it funny how you can look at someone thinking they
are this type of person and they totally shock you by being
the exact opposite.

Isn't it funny how a broken bone might make you cry for
a few minutes but a dang blister on your foot or hand can
make you whine for days!

Isn't it funny how little children can say they hate you one
minute but love you the next... (remind you little children,
that never happens with adults!)

Isn't it funny how it takes us in our moments of despair
to finally realize we can't do it on our own and we
reach up and finally ask him for help.

And isn't it funny how most of these moments we are all grateful for. Because in one way or another these moments can teach us something. It is through these moments we become who we are. So LIVE! Live through these "isn't it funny" moments; laugh, cry, and smile do whatever you want to do... but live so that those who do not know Christ will want to know Christ because they know you:)

Things I do for FUN

So the other night the girls (CEU basketball team of 08) decided to have some fun! So we went penny tapping! It was a night unlike any other. On our first night, our first experience led to a chase in the hills in the forerunner! I was trying to get away from a nice Ford truck and well I was going towards a hill, small hill to say the least, and the last time I went down it was about 7 months ago or so, so my knowledge of this hill was about to be updated! I thought the speed I was going would send us down the nice slope and send us nicely on our way.... well the slope, there wasn't on, and nicely is defiantley not a word I would use to describe it! Instead we should have all started singing "I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky (or ceiling because everyone did!)" The screaming came to a hault as everyone held there breath to embrace for impact, with little to nothing to hold onto except for the two genisuses I had in the front seat (they used a seat belt) and me of course with my seat belt, we landed safely. Well all of us except for Draina! She ended up kneeing herself in the eye, she looked like Mike Tyson in round three jk the eye wasn't bad but she did get kicked in the crauch! Oh and Kacey did get some quiff'n in the face, she grabbed Rach for something to hold on to and well the butt was in the face and hitting the ground and squeezing her like she did, well you get the picture! BLAH! Other than that we did great! We found a great hiding spot and was not caught that night, nor the next! lol We also entertain ourselves by playing DDR on your hands with your feet on the couch! Hard! Trust me, it isn't intended for the weak! So if you think your strong try a song or two. :D

Back Home till who knows when!

So I'm back home in UT. ND was a blast. I had such an enjoyable time getting to know people there. The team was great! The ended up going to the tourny and going to the elite 8. (to bad I wasn't there might have taken them to the FINAL FOUR jk). But the girls were great. I had probably the best roommate I could have had. We were just alike in many ways! Great girl, got drunk sometimes but hey it was fun watching her make a fool of herself. I always went by a quote while I was there, "WARNING: Consuming alcohol might lead you to believe your talking quietly when you actually are not!" lol There were some great times! I met a few guys, none of which are better then my Schy. Some had the potential but utterly failed in their attempts, if that's what you want to call them.
The ward was absolutley amazing! I got to know about eight different families that took me in as there own, which helped minimize the home sickness in a lot of ways! I had an adopt-a-beaver family which was in my ward also. The school sets it up and just has a family there to take care of you. Mine was awesome, I had FHE with them a lot and went ice fishing with them also! The other families were just as awesome though. I grew to love them in many ways! Infact I wouldn't trade the experience I had for anything. Nor would I ever trade any of those families! They helped me in so many different ways. I also find a deeper love and passion for the gospel up there! I can't explain the way the Lord touched me with his love. It is amazing what things can happen to you when you least expect it! All in all, it was a GREAT experience!
